It took a couple of days to reflect my experiences of the Summer edition of the Berlin Fashion Week 2011. There was a lot to see and reflection takes time…
The years that I have been around in Berlin, summers are hot and winters are very cold, so are the temperatures during the Berlin fashion weeks (January and July) which makes it a challenge to visit as much as possible events in the time being.
I started at the Men Opening of Premium. It was smaller (less exhibitors) and less progressive than I expected although I like the idea of putting the men fashion area in the spotlights. The next day I visited the first edition of the in fashion berlin, a new trade show with partly green fashion exhibitors (Green Glamour) and a mix of others. The overall concept was not really clear to me. Especially when I visited the lavera Showfloor at Kosmos where lots of fur was shown in the show of Bonnie by Bogner. Both last locations were great but far off the beaten track.
Day three I visited Premium, stylish design in denim, high fashion und accessories. The freebee ice creams gave a welcome cool break during this particular hot day.
After that the GREEN showroom in the Adlon Hotel was on the program. A stylish presentation of high fashion, basics und accessories fashion labels. For the first time some casual- and street wear labels were presented as well. I finished the evening with the “I want Mohr” show of Munich Designer Patrick Mohr at Brandenburger Tor. An interesting androgynous collection, presented mainly in the colours grey, black and beige. Eye catching were the latex socks and the black bar eyebrows.
I spent my last day at the Bread and Butter, the street and urban wear trade show that has put Berlin on the fashion map. A lot of exhibitors but very few innovative things to see. The B&B 10th anniversary played this summer the main role. Congratulations!
Cheers,
Marisa
